Greetings,

As you are already aware, the ACGME Resident Survey will be open March 9, 2015 through April 12, 2015.  Please note:

1. The ACGME’s Resident/Fellow survey is a tool for monitoring program quality and provides early warning of potential noncompliance with ACGME accreditation standards. All specialty and subspecialty programs (regardless of size) are surveyed every year between January and June. Aggregate reports are made available to programs with 4 or more residents if a 70% response rate is reached.

2. You should meet with the house staff as soon as is feasible to review the survey and the log-in process (please feel free to distribute the attached and use it when you meet with the residents to discuss the survey).

3. Remind the residents/fellows to read the questions carefully (please feel free to use the “Resident Survey Memo 2015” attached)

4. You or your coordinator should log in to WebADS periodically to monitor progress towards reaching the 70% participation threshold – we will send you periodic updates

Thank you in advance for educating your resident/fellows and ensuring that the 70% threshold is met.

Greetings,

As you are already aware, the ACGME Faculty Survey will be open March 9, 2015 to April 12, 2015.  Please note:

Which physician faculty members are being surveyed depends on the specialty and the program’s length of accredited training. In some subspecialty programs only the program director will be scheduled to participate. Non-Physician faculty members (as indicated on the program’s faculty roster) will NOT be surveyed.

You should determine who is enrolled by going to https://www.acgme.org/ads, accessible using your program’s login and password. On your Overview tab you will see the Faculty Survey section. Click the ‘View’ button in this section to access a list of those faculty who have not yet completed the survey along with their default login information.  As it will be day 1, and no one will have completed the survey, the list should be complete.

It s prudent to contact the enrolled faculty members to inform them that they are enrolled, and that you will be auditing completion of the survey.  Attached please find a guide to the Survey, which you may distribute to those enrolled.  You should also provide information specific to your program regarding:

*   Supervision: highlight the elements of your policies, and stress that the residents understand it and know when to go up the chain of command if they need help
*   Duty hours and the work environment: include that the program and institution are committed to strict adherence to duty hours policies.  The residents are educated about recognition of fatigue at orientation, the lecture is posted in New Innovations as a resource, and there are mechanisms in place should a resident be too tired to work or travel home post-call
*   QA/PS: how are your residents involved in departmental quality and patient safety activities?
*   Transitions of care: please give them details of your handoff policy and how residents are evaluated

Thank you in advance for educating your faculty about the survey and for ensuring the 60% threshold is met.
